Dull stones or mineral gems are younger and less evolved than any clear crystal gemstone which is older and therefore more powerful for use in healing. With the age of the stone comes clarity and purity. The most highly evolved stones are diamonds being pure carbon and clear quartz crystals.

The Two Special Electro-Magnetic Qualities of Rock Crystals. 

• Piezoelectricity.
  This is caused by the application of an electrical current to a quartz crystal. The best example is in a watch or clock that has a tuning fork shaped quartz crystal. An electrical current bends the crystal but when switched off the crystal then returns to is original shape and in the process of this generates an electrical field polarised at the ends of the crystal.

• Pyroelectricity.
  Pyr is Greek meaning fire which relates to the ability of certain materials such as quartz to generate an electrical charge on a polar axis through the ends of the material when being heated or cooled. The most common pyroelectrical mineral is tourmaline and all pyroelectrical substances are also piezoelectrical.
  
  The interesting thing with regard to healing is that pyro electrical substances are used in motion seeking devices as they can respond to the heat generated by humans or animals several feet away, detection occurs when body heat generates a different electrical charge in the crystal. Therefore it is scientifically proved that quartz crystals will generate a different electrical charge when placed near the body of a person.

Crystals Affect the Aura
As healing gemstones quartz crystal strengthens the aura although that may not be directly related to colour therapy but it is useful to hold it, wear it or be near it simply to help protect sensitive and vulnerable people and draw out any negative energy. Crystals give out electromagnetic energy as does our body, they are conductors of electricity and have their own electric fields, and they can concentrate and amplify light through the point. They can also act like a prism that splits light into the colours of the spectrum.These qualities can be used to release the crystal’s energy through our own energetic system healing any gaps in our aura caused by illness, shock, stress, or emotional trauma. The crystal allows the chakras to harmonise and balance themselves with whatever colour it needs from the prismatic effect of splitting the white light emitted by the crystal.Silicon chips run computer processors and are susceptible to vibration which is why I know some people who actually talk to their computer as a way of righting any fault.
